Best way to travel inside the City area is Tram, for that you need Istanbul Card (10 TL only) and upload some money in it. Afterwards it is an excellent souvenir from Istanbul! Hi, it's much quieter after 9pm since bars are elsewhere. Plenty of Police about and I have never felt in danger walking though here at any time of day. As anywhere use sensible precautions and avoid the young men who will chat and try to convince you to go somewhere or that they know you!
Which transportation and tour shall we take from 9:30am to 5pm, since we are arriving in a cruise to Istanbul on Aug 25th with a limit of time. Will love to see the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Gran Bazaar and Hardrock cafe.

Also, if you follow the rail system tracks, that are directly in front of the Cistern, (you MUST visit this, as well!) head toward the water, following next to the tracks, and you will come to a pier. The BEST spice market in the world, has it's entrance right there! Go inside, and look for GODZE, they have the best teas, Turkish Delight, dried fruits, spices and so much more! I definitely suggest walking, most of your trip. There is so much to see and experience!
